Aussie, Aussie … argh, argh, argh

Can the Italians win a game without a significant boost from the referees?

  1. Oh good…I was not alone in thinking that game ended in shameful way. The “analysts” in the US towed the FIFA line…”It was a good call” ARGH is right!!!

  2. The penalty call was no worse than the call that gave Materazzi a red card and forced Italy to play with a man down for most of the game. One thing is for certain, the refs have been atrocious the last two days.

  3. Materazzi’s red card was the referee’s worst decision and it influenced all of the second part of the game!

Italy suffered more from this referee than it profited.

As for Italy always being helped: South Korea in ’02 anyone????

  5. It’s hard to know what the result would have been if the ref had made no mistakes – as an Aussie I thought they got a rough call with the send-off and we got a rough call with the penalty.

Judging by the first 50 minutes, though, I think we’d have been in with a good chance. We’ve got a very fit team (take a look how we finished in our other games) while the Italians have a couple who are playing on old legs, so if it had gone into extra time at 0-0 we’d have done well even without the extra man.

But it’s a damn shame that the ref made sure we’ll never know.

  6. This was make-up for 2002. Shameful. I was all for the Aussies because they knocked Uruguay off in the qualifying.

As a Colombian, I am always against the Uruguayan team. Cheaters.
