I’m writing this in advance, so things may change during the night, but my better half’s foundation made evacuation mandatory Saturday afternoon, so off we go. We’re on our way to Yerevan to see if things subside reasonably quickly. I hope so, as I really like Tbilisi and was enjoying settling in there. One way or another, we’ll be going back to a very different environment.
Good luck with everything.
Yep. Good luck.

According to Wu Wei, Brits have been advised to evacuate too.
This is a big loss to Georgia – a lot of foreign advisors and expertise and unfinished training programmes. Not to mention the hotel and restaurant dollars.
Wu doesn’t agree, but most are of the opinion that Saakashvili has brought it upon himself. It can’t have been worth an adventure against a few bandits and peasants in the hills.
Good luck on the evacuation. Bad luck for Georgia to lose so many Americans and Brits that were there on contracts.
Thanks everyone. We made it in yesterday, but no connectivity until now.
