World Cup Cliche Watch

We’ll get the first one out of the way early: Twenty-two men played. In the end, Germany won.

(Over Costa Rica, 4-2 just for the record and so anyone who pulls this post out of the archives years from now will have the context at hand.)

  1. Well yes…

Truth to be told, I´m not expecting that much from the German team in 2006. (I´m especially worried about the weak German defense this time.)

On the other hand, I´m pleased that this wasn´t a typical opening game. Resulting in a 0:0 or 1:0 game like in the past, you know.
Six goals in the first game – and right now two goals in the second game – seem to indicate a World Cup with goals!
Hopefully more entertaining than World Cups in the past.
